Rotary has been one of Ak’ Tenamit’s strongest supporters for decades, and the impact their support has made to the organization is visible. At the heart of this enduring partnership is Rotarian Steve Dudenhoefer, whose journey began in Palm Beach County, Florida, USA, where he hired Guatemalan migrant workers as a landscape contractor. Witnessing firsthand the challenges faced by these individuals and their families, Steve felt compelled to take action. Recently, his decades-long dedication and vision were recognized globally as he was honored as a Champion of Change at the 2024 Rotary Convention in Singapore. This prestigious distinction underscores Steve’s unwavering commitment to service above self, a commitment that has propelled positive change in Guatemala and beyond.

Rotarians’ support of Ak’ Tenamit has been instrumental in driving positive change within the community. Through individual club grants, as well as district and Global Grants, Rotary has provided vital support in various forms, including medical supplies, equipment, solar energy solutions, educational materials, and more. These contributions have not only filled immediate needs but have also empowered the program to thrive and grow. Additionally, Rotary service teams have been coming to Guatemala for decades to help improve Ak’ Tenamit’s infrastructure.
